DANDENONG, AUSTRALIA September 2008 Invitation 1st prize 'He Who Explores' Judged by Leah Szanto, Visual Arts Co-ordinator, Kingston Arts Centre "Neil Wyatt’s piece 'Reflection' is a bold piece, clearly demonstrating the artists’ talent in depicting space and light. The work presents concepts involving belief, surroundings and imagination; all fundamentally important when dealing with ‘exploration’ as a theme. The central figure and use of contrast are a powerful combination, commanding attention. The lone figure shown sitting in beams of light, prompted me as the viewer to create my own narrative, a context in which to fit the character". |
